September and October French Classes

As October comes to an end, here are some pictures of our last 2 months together. We have mainly been reviewing colours and learning new fall vocabulary.

Emma and Levi are playing “trouvé” (search and find)

Shahar is working on a guided colouring: listening to instructions and colouring the picture accordingly

We went on a scavenger hunt outside to find fall items.

Nate is looking for our missing colour in the game “Qu’est-ce qu’il manque?”

Rachel is matching the word to the colour.

We played a game in the gym where we had to run to the colour called out by the teacher.

Delilah is colouring her crayon to be able to present her favourite colour.

The kids placing pictures on the correct colour.

We worked on books describing what we saw outside. We are currently working on “reading” them. They will be sent home shortly

Ma famille

Good morning!

We will be finishing our family unit this week with a short oral presentation. Each child will be tasked with introducing their family to us in French. We will practice this activity in class using repetitive vocabulary such as:

“Voici ma maman. Ma maman s’appelle ______”

“Voici mon petit frère. Mon petit frère s’appelle ________”
For this activity, I kindly ask that you either email me a picture or drawing of your family or send one to school with your child.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Thank you
Sophie

Les voyelles

We are learning our French vowels! Throughout the last few weeks, we have read stories about each vowel, created booklets, used Play-Doh to make letters and played a variety of games!

French vowels are difficult because they do not sound the same in French as they do in English. Nonetheless, these kiddos are learning quickly and we have many almost-readers!

“Homework” document

Below is a dynamic document that I will update routinely, containing tv shows, games, e-books and other relevant resources that may help support your child in his or her French education.

Franco-Ontarien day was a blast!

We celebrated by watching a live stream of the celebration and concert while eating cupcakes and decorating flags!

Online learners, send us your handprints so we can add them to our flag!

Journée Franco-Ontarienne

Good morning!

I wanted to let you know that we will be celebrating Franco-Ontarien day tomorrow, Friday September 25.

We will be having treats, watching a live-stream of the celebration (raising of the flag, concert, activities), and creating our own flag with the Grades 1 and 2

The live stream is available on:

Célébrons le 25 septembre !

Given that it will be a dress down day, I encourage the kids to wear green and white (Franco-Ontarien flag colors).

Have a great day!

French Booklets

Hi everyone!

As I mentioned last night, your child came home this week with a “book” containing words with the sound O. Many of the kids can “read” through it and identify the words. This activity is a vocabulary activity and I do not expect the kids to read or sound out any of the words. If you get the chance, ask them to read you their book. They are very proud when they can say all the words!

In the coming weeks, you will find more of these books in their note-totes as we work on other vowels.

Thank you!

Mme Sophie
